Publish

GENERAL

Articles are to be submitted as unformatted MS Word documents, especially without automatic structuring or numbering, footnote linkage or bookmarks. Subject to deviating individual agreements, the maximum length is 45,000 characters (including spaces and footnotes). Names of individuals, cross referencing terms and legal terms in languages other than English are to be set in Italics. All evidence is to be placed in footnotes.

STRUCTURE

The article is to be structured following the scheme A.I.1.a)aa)(1)(a)(aa)(i) etc.; several pages of continuous text are to be avoided. Each section or subsection features an own headline.

REFERENCING

References to international publications, judicial decisions and acts of legislation follow the standard format used in the country of origin, i.e., for the US, “Freund, 59 Harv. L. Rev. (1945/46), 1210, 1215.” As far as German works are taken into reference, the Bucerius Law Journal’s Zitierleitfaden for German authors applies. Within the main text, footnote numbers follow the punctuation mark. References concerning single words follow the respective word. Each footnote starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Several references within one footnote are separated by semicolons. Unless an entire article is referred to, „et seq.“ is replaced by the exact page numbers. Generally, all referenced individuals are mentioned only with their last names. Where a last name is confusable, the first initial is added, i.e. “K. Schmidt”. Only if this citation is still confusable, the full first and last names are referred to. The names of several authors/publishers/editors are separated by slashes.
